There's nothing too revealing about Lewis Del Mar on their Facebook page. Just a simple bio that seems to be written in "texting" format: "we r a duo from queens." As succinct as this may be, it is really befitting to the music this emerging duo is releasing. Their production value is sneaky, it takes unexpected turns and, like their bio, leaves much to the imagination. Because of their tendency to blend so many sounds, you never know where they will take you. On "Malt Liquor," for example, if you don't listen past the one-minute mark, you'd swear this was just another singer-songwriter; but then the song takes an explosive turn, dropping the bass low, kicking in an infections beat, layering in some unexpected vocal modulation and a euphoric melody that carriers you all the way to the end of this dynamic track. This brand of genre-bending music is my favorite sound right now. It's impossible to place in a category. It's just... music.
So keep and eye on Lewis Del Mar, and if you need to find them, I'd look in Queens.
